Attorney Gary Washington’s mission is to empower citizens with knowledge of their rights, and how to effectively assert them during encounters with law enforcement officers.  As a criminal defense attorney, Washington frequently challenges illegal police stops, arrests, searches and interrogations.

Attorney Washington frequently speaks on the topic: “Act like a citizen. Think Like a cop: Know Your Rights.” He also gives talks on the topic: “Youth and the law: What young people don’t know that can land them in jail.

Attorney Washington has given numerous “Know Your Rights” workshops in the state of Georgia and throughout the United States, for civic organizations, churches, schools, universities, state prisons and yes, even barbershops.

ABOUT GARY WASHINGTON

A practicing attorney for over 30 years, Washington worked as a senior attorney in the Fulton County Public Defender’s Office, the Georgia Appellate Resource Center, and as a staff attorney for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Washington is also a past instructor at the National Criminal Defense College, Mercer Law School in Macon, Georgia.

Licensed to practice in South Carolina and Georgia, Gary has been in private practice since 1995, is a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Georgia Bar Association.
