Attorney Washington has more than 30 years of litigation experience with an emphasis in criminal defense. Washington is passionate about defending the rights of every day persons who stand accused of committing crimes.

Attorney Washington received a B.A. in political science from Ohio Wesleyan University, in Delaware, Ohio and his law degree from Rutgers University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey where he served as Editor of the Rutgers Law Review. 

After law school, Washington began his legal career as a judicial law clerk for his mentor, the Honorable Matthew J. Perry, Jr., Federal District Court Judge in South Carolina. Later he worked as a staff attorney for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Richmond, Virginia. Washington has also worked as a senior attorney in the Fulton County Public Defender’s Office and the Georgia Appellate Resource Center. The Georgia Appellate Resource Center was an organization that rendered assistance to death-sentenced inmates in obtaining post-conviction relief in state and federal courts.

Washington received advanced training in trial advocacy under the instruction of the internationally renowned trial lawyer, Gerry Spence, at Spence’s Trial Lawyers College in Wyoming. The college’s curriculum focuses on obtaining justice for all persons.

Attorney Washington is a past instructor to attorneys at the National Criminal Defense College, Mercer Law School in Macon, Georgia. Washington has also lectured for the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He has conducted numerous “Know Your Rights” workshops for civic organizations, church groups, schools, universities, barbershops, beauty shops and state prisons.

Washington is a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Georgia Bar Association.  He is currently serving in the following capacities: Chairman of Conyers-Rockdale Library System Board of Trustees and Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office Merit Board. 

Attorney Washington was awarded the Rockdale County NAACP Jean Williams Community Service Award in recognition for his dedication and service for everyday Americans. He also was awarded the Carroll County NAACP Community Service Award.

An accomplished musician, trained at the nationally renowned LaGuardia High School of Music and Art, and the Manhattan School of Music, Washington was a featured clarinet soloist at Lincoln Center in New York City.  His other interests include playing saxophone, listening to classical music, swimming and working out at the gym.
